What does your Bible look like?

I wanted to look up something in the Bible real quick; so I asked Sara for hers since I was too lazy to run downstairs to get mine. I was shocked at how worn it was. I started to question her, "What happened?, Why is your Bible in such bad shape?, Don't you take care of it?, Aunt T and Uncle Dave gave that to you!"
"Yes Mommy, I take good care of it but I use it everyday!", she replied.
As I turned to the passage I wanted to look up, the word-EVERYDAY-echoed in my head. I saw pages dog-eared, bookmarks in other passages, highlighted verses, notes from sermons, personal notes on journal pages, and her own thoughts written in the margins throughout the whole book.
Needless to say-I was convicted. My almost 11 year old knew what I sometimes forget--The Bible-God's Word-needs to be entered into everyday and interacted with...
I really don't think Aunt T and Uncle Dave will mind that she 'USES' the gift they gave her about 3 years ago and uses it 'hard'!!!!

If I could change one thing...

If I could change one thing about myself I think it would be that I wouldn't need so much sleep. I have friends that require only a few hours of sleep each night and seem to have energy to spare. I on the other hand NEED 8 hours or more of shut eye and it has to be uninterrupted. Even in college when sleep patterns are determined by class assignments I had to get my sleep in-granted that meant sleeping Saturday away or the afternoon but I still needed that sleep.
Just think of all the extra things I could get done if I didn't need sleep:
  1. clean the house
  2. cook gourmet meals
  3. my taxes
  4. all emails, inboxes, phone calls and letters answered
  5. drive to all those places that I say it's just to far to drive there and back in 1 day
  6. exercise
  7. write my book
  8. read more
  9. learn a new skill
  10. finish all those projects...

Wow, I be able to get so much done--but that's not the case for me and that list is making think-I WANT A NAP! Just kidding...

What would you like to change about yourself and why? Have some fun with your answer then thank the Lord for making you-you and pray He'll give you the strength to be that.

Been awhile-huh?

Hello everyone! I know it's been awhile since I posted last. Lots of stuff going on that has been given my time. As Valentine's Day comes near everyone is thinking about love and cut out hearts. Terry and I may be weird (OK, I know we're weird) but we actually celebrate Ground hog's Day with a bit more excitement. Terry said, since I've known him -he doesn't like to be told when to be romantic and I'm not a touchy-feeling, loving-dovey person--plus the fact that all roses, candy and card prices are raised during this time--I'm fine with it. So, we have tradition that every Ground hog's Day we watch the movie and someday actually hope to the whole Groundhog festivities...

But since everyone else is in pink and red and speaking about love, I thought I'd better too. You'll notice I added a song to the blog; Warren Barfield's "Love Is Not A Fight" featured in the movie, "Fireproof". I heard this song a ways back and began to cry-knowing that marriages are rough and tough and take energy and work it really struck me! Then this past week Terry and I rented the movie and it was an encouragement to us (if your married it's worth seeing).
Satan has really attacked marriages and sometimes I feel he is winning the battle. Divorce rates soar among Christians and loveless marriages are everywhere! I'm not judging couples but want to encourage and offer hope to you if married--Take sometime and see what the Bible has to say about marriage and why God even created it.
We will ALWAYS be humbled in our lives if we compare ourselves to God and His standards. If you are not married--look at what the Bible says about love--look at Jesus' love . WOW!!!!
I have so very, very far to go...I'm not a natural lover-you know one who loves everyone and feels love about everything...God has done great work in my heart and continues to challenge me to love others--Starting with Him!
May you know God's love for you and what it costs Him to give it to you; may you show God's love to those around you...
Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day!
